What a quiet Practice Lab still teaches
Dull holiday tapes frustrate traders — they also expose who can sit through a non-event without inventing a breakout.
Not every Thursday offers a clean overnight break. When the calendar lands on a thin holiday week, we still run the lab. Traders mark “no trade” more often, and that mark is graded as carefully as a confirmed entry.
The skill under boredom
Inventing a breakout to justify the commute is a real failure mode. We rotate historical dense sessions into quiet evenings so the room still gets reps, but at least one live chart from the current week stays on the board — even if the honest answer is to stand down.
How coaches respond
If half the room forces a confirmation call on a flat tape, we reopen the rule card and ask which criterion was actually met. Embarrassment is brief; the habit change lasts longer than another lecture on patience.
Booking tip
If you only attend labs on explosive weeks, you miss the standing-down reps. Four-packs that include a quiet Thursday are intentional, not a scheduling mistake.
